ABOUT US

All-Integrated Tele-Learning & Education Centre (AITEC), is a Canadian agency that provides online speech and language therapy to Chinese-speaking populations in Taiwan, Singapore, and China. Many of our students have neurodivergent conditions such as Dyslexia, ASD, ADHD, and other speech-language-communication challenges, Down’s Syndrome, CP, Hearing Impairments as well as literacy development for neurotypical children. Our team focuses on uncovering the unique strengths of all our students with the goal of maximizing their potential while also providing guidance and remediation.  

 

AITEC was initially founded in November 2002 as a Chinese and English language learning agency based in Halifax, the capital city of Nova Scotia, Canada. AITEC used to consist of two sectors: Asian adolescent students studying abroad in Western countries, and local Canadian students learning Chinese. Within the ESL sector, we worked extensively with ESL youth, including those with ASD and Dyslexia to great success. Students who go through our programme have received many accolades and achievements in high school and move on to being accepted by top universities.  

 

Within the Mandarin Chinese learning sector, AITEC provides Chinese learning courses to groups of homeschooling students since being established. Through word of mouth among the parents of AITEC students, the founder of AITEC was recruited by a local prestigious school to develop a Mandarin Chinese programme for its students in 2005. Due to its success and Ming-Ling's excellent reputation, AITEC was asked to establish another Mandarin course at another independent school for their students from pre-K to grade 12 the following year. Over the years, AITEC has worked with a wide range of students in Canada and Chinese-speaking world with various learning profiles.  

 

The founder of AITEC, Ming-Ling Tsay, holds a Master of Science degree in Speech Language Pathology from Dalhousie University in Canada, and has a multidisciplinary background in nursing and special education. With her rich clinical experience in hospitals and schools in Taiwan and Canada, she integrates neuroscience, linguistics, phonetics, psycholinguistics, education, and language development in her teaching, materials and resources. She is skilled at responding to each student’s learning style, potential difficulties, and is driven to maximize their learning outcomes. Ming-Ling has excellent insight and can see student strengths and capabilities that might get overlooked in the traditional classroom.  

 

In 2019, before the Covid-19 world outbreak, Ming-Ling travelled to Singapore, Malaysia, and many cities in China. She came across many children with special needs who did not have proper interventions, no school to attend, or were being underestimated in their potential. Her trip ended with her providing training sessions at local coffee shops and in client/friend homes.  She was so attached to these children and found joy in their success. When travel became difficult due to Covid, Ming-Ling pivoted her in-person classes to an interactive virtual approach. This allowed her to continue helping and serving these students at-a-distance. In September 2021 she began inviting specialists, and their wealth of knowledge to her program. With her team, Ming-Ling began supporting students virtually and embraced this growing educational trend.  

 

In recent years, the population learning the Chinese language is growing rapidly. Children with special needs in Chinese-speaking families are also seeking more professional and better-quality services. Since the Covid-19 pandemic, AITEC has been providing tele-learning service and been working to transform its Chinese learning courses and materials (accumulated across two decades) into digital form. Meanwhile, with the technological functions of this learning platform, we continue to develop individualized learning materials and customized Chinese learning courses.  

 

Motivated by the vision of making the world a more inclusive place for neurodivergent learners, our team is prepared to provide the highest quality of service for neurodivergent individuals in the Chinese-speaking world. We are confident that with the combination of our caring professionals and technology support, our learners – no matter neurodivergent or neurotypical, native speaker or non-native speaker in Chinese – can experience abundant joy and success along the way of learning Chinese.

    AITEC在2002年11月成立于加拿大東岸Nova Scotia省的首都城市Halifax,當時主要是一個中英雙語的語言學習機構,學生對象是亞洲到西方的青少年留學生和當地學習華語文的學生。機構自2005年開始為當地兩個著名的私立學校從學前到高中年齡段的學子提供華語文課程、教材、及教學服務。

    基於創辦人蔡明伶有特殊教育和語言病理的專業背景,加上多年在東西方醫院和學校的臨床實務經驗,在課程、教材和教法上融合了大腦科學、語言學、音發音技巧、心理語言學、教育學及語言發展等多領域的專業知識,加上對於學習者的學習風格、可能遇到的困難都能快速的掌握,經營理念皆以學習者能得到最大效益的學習成果作為導向。

    自從2019年疫情的爆發,加上全球學習華語文的人數激增,和華語文家庭有特殊孩子的需求需要更多的專業人士、更優質的資源,AITEC開始提供線上課程服務,將多年積累的課程和教材進行電子數位化的轉換,同時配合線上學習平台的科技功能,繼續開發學習材料,設計個別化、客製化的華語文學習課程,學習材料也不斷更新,不論學習者母語是華語或是外語,不論是一般學習者或是聽說讀寫有困難者,我們都能提供最優質的學習成果。

Vision

Listening, speaking, reading, and writing are considered to be the main four skills of the human language. People are able to better convey their thoughts and feelings when they have strong communicative tools. 

When an individual struggles to communicate it can be frustrating and adversely impact their social relationships. 

Since the traditional classroom proves difficult for many learners as well as the challenges many encounter with Chinese SLP professionals, AITEC is here to support and meet the demand for Chinese speakers and others. 

AITEC's abundant online learning materials are designed to best serve our students and clients and deliver a personalized program. We have a wide range of specialties  from early childhood, developing literacy skills, and high-level  speech-language therapy. 華語文學習

    因應講華語家庭移民到世界各地,以及全世界學習華語文的人口不斷增加,但是有效的華語文學習方法及目前已經開發的教材和英文比較來,仍有許多進步的空間。
 

    愛得克擁有20年的華語文教育經驗,為學前到高中階段的學生,為華語移民家庭的孩子,考慮年齡、個別學習風格的不同、學習目的不同,文化差異的考量,以學習者需求為導向,為個別案例,也和學校合作,開發出無數成果豐碩的課程、學習方法和學習材料。
 

    由於我們的專業,我們也有能力為華語非母語者提供“口音矯正訓練”,特別像是商業人士、演藝人士需要學習普通話精準的發音,不僅降低溝通誤會,也增加談判及演出效果。

聽說讀寫困難

    愛得克團隊打破傳統依據障礙分類法的語言治療模式,透過掌握正常兒童和特殊兒童語言發展間的差距,深入了解特殊需求者的學習困難及心理反應,針對個別差異及族群需求,不只將焦點放在基礎語言及溝通的建設,甚至開發從基礎語言、讀寫能力的發展到晉升高階語言能力的銜接課程、教材及教法,靈活的建構特殊需求者在語音、語意、語形、語法及語用等各領域的語言功能,實質的增進日常生活中的理解與表達能力,甚至是結合學校課業需求所需要的聽說讀寫的高階語言能力。

    我們的課程設計理念是透過遊戲把要解決的問題置入其中,但同時採取個案的優勢開發理念,這讓個案不會一直處在“被”矯正問題的負面感受,當他們發現自己的能力是很多面向時,同時也加強了自己的社會情緒發展,會變得更有信心,在這樣的溝通情境之下,他們需要改善的部分會更快達到效果。只要學習的方法、材料、階段目標都對了,成果則是可預期的。

林寶貴教授

    今年85歲自1957年18歲在台北女師畢業前,受到當時臺北盲啞學校一群默默耕耘的教師及學生所感動後,即放棄當時明星學校的教職,而選擇投身特殊教育以來,已耕耘長達66年之久。

 

    1980年她自日本國立筑波大學取得特殊教育學博士學位後,即回到臺灣教育學院(今彰化師大的前身)特殊教育系任教,一切從無到有,她感歎當時「創業維艱」。之後教授受公部門的委託,主持多項重要特殊教育改進計畫,並規劃大型專案及擔任特教工作研發小組之召集人。 

    為讓國內特殊教育發展與世界接軌,她經常帶領特教教師到國外考察、發表論文,即使抱病也堅持完成任務。近年來為統一臺灣北中南三區之手語,從事了長達17年的手語教材、手語辭典,負責帶領特教教師編撰啟聰學校國語文統編課本,倡議並推動口語訓練,也輔導全國大專院校建立輔導盲聾生的資源教室方案。即便已退休多年,依然為特教奔波戮力,成立中華溝通障礙教育學會、中華民國聲暉聯合會,建議成立臺灣聽語學會、手語翻譯協會,每年舉辦教材教具比賽、國際學術研討會等,連疫情期間都不忘參與線上教學。

 

     林寶貴教授終生對特殊教育的奉獻,大家有目共睹,不僅台灣,就連中國大陸各地,她也不辭辛勞的去培訓特教師資,她的學生可謂是“桃李滿世界”。在2022年,林教授榮獲了星雲文教基金會第九屆「終身教育典範獎」https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Txpp1e4KHtg&t=112s

     她雖已退休19年,近年來也熱心支持愛得克對全球華人提供特殊教育及語言溝通線上課程的服務,我們全體愛得克的工作同仁,一定會盡心盡力的協助特殊兒童的案例及家庭,將林教授對特殊教育的愛與精神,繼續延伸與擴展下去。
