Alan—Recommendation letter from parents of students and students of Ms. Tsay from AITEC
When our eldest son, Bang, was less than 3 years old, my wife and I noticed that he learned differently. Over the years we observed how he was highly sensitive to noise and environmental stimuli. His memory was exceptional but he was unable to concentrate for long periods of time on particular tasks. Bang was stubborn, often exhibiting heightened emotions, and he struggled to integrate with his peers. As parents we recognized the unique learning needs of our child. After Bang struggled in the traditional classroom for years, we were grateful to finally find AITEC, and its founder Ming-Ling, who truly understood our child’s neurodivergent learning profile. We appreciate so many aspects of Ming-Ling's approach. We were welcome to observe our child’s lessons and the line of communication between teacher and parents was always encouraged. Through direct observation of Ming-Ling's lessons, the following are key areas in which we feel she (and AITEC) are exceptional:
Ming-Ling is an extremely dedicated and knowledgeable instructor. She cares deeply for her students and continuously works to build strong connections with them. While traditional education models often focus on student weaknesses and areas of improvement - Ming-Ling takes a different, and more effective, approach. She aims to celebrate student differences while identifying and expanding on individual student strengths.
Through individualized and focused interventions our son, Bang, began to thrive (and enjoy!) his classes. The lessons were engaging and the adaptations were intentional which allowed Bang’s strengths to develop. I was so pleased and shocked when my son asked if he could take Ming-Ling's class again one day! What progress he had made in his approach to his learning.
Through her years of expertise – Ming-Ling understands the value of a student’s “productive struggle”. To continue expanding her student’s knowledge and avoid student frustration, she knows how hard to push to bring out the best in her students. Most of the time her students are having fun and don’t even realize how much they’re learning!
Lastly, by providing regular “homework” this keeps parents informed on what their child is learning. This allows parents to best support their children at home and reinforce what has been learned in classes. It promotes student independence and confidence.
I have been beyond impressed with Ming-Ling and my experience with AITEC. My child is thriving and meeting his learning outcomes. If AITEC opens up a parent course – I will be the first to sign up! I would not hesitate to recommend AITEC.
